Yes, I started playing around with film photography ;-) It started when I picked up an old Praktica SuperTL camera at a car boot sale while visiting Bebe Rascal and Lola Valentine in Sheffield. It was built like a tank and just felt really wonderful to use. Good solid clunk whenever you took a shot.
After new year I treated myself to a Holga however. Mostly because I was really intrigued by the seemingly random, dreamy effect it gave in shots I’d seen taken with it. I’ve spent quite a while recently trying to make my digital camera less sharp and clear – so it seemed to make sense just to get something that could in no way be called ’sharp and clear’ and save myself the hassles ;-) And it was also a lot easier for me to scan the film as it used medium format rather than the 35mm that the Praktica uses so I could use the old flatbed scanner I have.
Anyway – the Holga is very, very nice :-) It feels so cheap and nasty – I love it :-) I’ve only shot a few rolls of film so far, but I’m very taken with the whole process. I’m hoping to start on a new book project in a week or two which will be entirely done on the Holga :-) Yay! :-)
I’ve popped a few of the shots below. It’s so much fun, I can’t tell you :-)

Well, I’ve managed to out-do myself in terms of not updating my website this year. Go me… So I’ve made a slideshow thing which has lots of shots from the shoots I’ve done this year that I didn’t get round to posting on here. I’ve probably missed some too – but I’ve completely lost track of what I’ve done in 2009. Old age is a terrible thing… ;-)
I’d really like to thank all the fabulous people I’ve worked with this year. I won’t list everyone as I’ll no doubt forget to include someone and then feel terrible about it ;-) But you’re all wonderful – mwah! ;-)
Anyway – there’s a posh slideshow thing with about 100 pictures in it which you can see by clicking here! :-)

I was terribly flattered to be asked to do some photo’s for Scotland’s new fashion magazine – Posed. I admit I was rather terrified by the whole affair ;-) It was the first time I’ve ever shot in a studio and there were all sorts of proper photographers also doing shoots for them! But thankfully I had lots of help and didn’t break anything expensive :-)
I’d like to thank everyone who helped with the shoots: the models Sooz, Ashby & Stephanie; the make-up artists Sian and June; the stylist Pamela Reynolds; and McInnes, McAleavy and Dave Sams for helping calm my nerves and show me how to switch on the lights ;-)

I’ve been very spoiled recently and had the chance to do another shoot for ‘Obscure Couture‘. The clothes were simply wonderful – as usual! And this time I had the truly lovely Lolita Trash up to stay too :-) We also had the amazing talents of make-up artist Sian Lidgate who’s work is simply wonderful!
It was a really fun few days – just a few of the results are below…

I managed to grab the delightful & dreamy Becka for another shoot last week. I also got to play with my new blurry dreamy lens contraption to both of our delights ;-) New toys are good ;-) And working with Becka is always a delight :-)
